A sewer main break discharging untreated wastewater into Olcott Harbor that was first identified on March 3 was successfully contained early Tuesday, according to Town of Newfane Supervisor John Syracuse. A bypass system was installed and completed early Tuesday morning.

Purchase of the F&M Building by the Savarino Company is expected to close on Friday, with plans to renovate the structure into market-rate apartments.

Former strip club owner Peter Gerace will remain locked up. Gerace, the former owner of Pharaoh’s Gentlemen’s Club in Cheektowaga, sought a new trial or an acquittal after a jury convicted him 15 months ago on eight counts, including bribing a DEA agent, maintaining Pharaoh’s as a drug-involved premises, and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.

Youngstown has become the latest Niagara County municipality to adopt regulations on short-term rental properties. The Youngstown Board of Trustees passed the new regulations at its meeting last month, having worked to adopt such changes for the past three years.

The Bills agreed to terms on a three-year deal with cornerback Dee Alford.
