A member of the New York Army National Guard was arrested and charged after allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into Collins Correctional Facility, New York State Police announced Monday.

The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office says it’s investigating three scenes following a stabbing on Monday morning.
The scenes are located in the Town of Alabama on Meadville Road, Skye Road and a nearby field.
Authorities say they received the stabbing call around 7:30 a.m. on Monday. They say two people were taken to ECMC by Mercy Flight. Their conditions are currently unknown.

Nearly a week after Adam Curtis was killed in a motorcycle crash in Lancaster, friends and family of the 30-year-old gathered Sunday for a memorial ride in his honor.

Seven people were injured Sunday morning when a vehicle went off the New York State Thruway and down an embankment near the Angola Service Area.

Four people reported missing from Buffalo were found dead Saturday night in West Virginia after a vehicle crash, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office announced. The victims were identified by officials as retired local doctor Kishore Divan, 89, Asha Divan, 85, Shailesh Divan, 87, and Gita Divan, 81.

A Sikorsky helicopter was being used Sunday to lift HVAC units onto the roof of the new Amazon facility being built on Lockport Road in the Town of Niagara. The helicopter has a lift capability of 10,000 pounds. There is another lift operation scheduled in October.

The sheriff’s office in Marshall County, W.Va. asked for help in finding Asha Divan, Dr. Kishore Divan, Shailesh Divan, and Gita Divan. They were traveling from Buffalo to the Palace of Gold on McCreary’s Ridge Road in Marshall County, W.Va. They were traveling south on I-79. Their New York license plate reads EKW2611.

A 70-year-old woman is recovering after deputies, medical professionals, and fans with medical training provided life-saving care when she became unresponsive following the Bills Blue & Red practice at Highmark Stadium on Friday night. Two reserve deputies – John Klingesmith and Greg Daniel – spotted the woman slumped over on a railing Klingesmith carried her to the top of the walkway while Daniel cleared space to lay her down and render aid.

A peaceful space dedicated to nonviolence was disrupted this week in Amherst. Someone knocked over several planters surrounding the Mahatma Gandhi monument and community members are speaking out. A peaceful space in Amherst, where the Gandhi monument stands, is now at the center of frustration and disappointment. Board members with CHAI say this was the very first project their team launched back in 2020.
A federal investigation has found deficiencies in patient care at the Batavia Community Living Center, part of the VA Western New York Healthcare System, that may have led to a resident’s decline and death earlier this year. A report from the VA Office of Inspector General, the resident was admitted to the Buffalo VA Medical Center in winter 2024 due to dementia-related concerns. After the resident was treated at the Buffalo VA Medical Center, the person was transferred to the Batavia facility.

All Saints parishioners in Lockport are now heading to court to keep the church’s assets from being used to help pay for the Diocese of Buffalo’s $150 million sexual assault settlement.

A woman who was killed at a motel in Amherst on Tuesday has been identified by police. 27 year old Emmeya Sims of Amherst, was residing at 1951 Niagara Falls Boulevard when she was killed on July 29.

Officials have identified the victims of a house fire in Lackawanna that broke out Tuesday night. Felicia Toporek, 28, and 4-year-old Audrey Zosowski died. Toporek was the mother of Zosowski. Two of her other children remain in the hospital.

Two people died and two others remain in the hospital after a fire broke out Tuesday night in Lackawanna. The call came in just before 10:30 p.m. for a fire at 27 Girard Ave., where crews saw heavy fire in the back of the structure with people trapped.

Amherst police secured a second-degree murder arrest warrant for a Buffalo man, 37 year old Daniel Negron, after a woman was found dead at a motel on Tuesday.

Around 10 a.m. Wednesday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents executed a search warrant at Asia Food Market, prompting a law enforcement presence that shut down the popular supermarket for the day.
