The site of the former Gordie Harper’s Bazaar in Newfane is now no more. The beloved restaurant burned to the ground Saturday night, just days before reopening as a new sports bar and grill under new ownership.

The family of Nurul Amin Shah Alam recently held their first public news conference, saying that they are still searching for answers about the circumstances surrounding his death. Shah Alam, a 56-year-old Rohingya refugee, was found dead on Tuesday night several days after being dropped off outside a Tim Hortons following his release from U.S. Border Patrol custody.

There are new plans to develop the former Kensington Heights site in Buffalo into more than 330 units of affordable housing. The redevelopment strategy at 1827 Fillmore Ave. includes transforming the 15 acres of land into a brand new housing complex.

CASE Niagara (Coalition of Agencies in Service to the Elderly), will host a Niagara County Resource Day event starting Wednesday at 12:30 p.m. at Gratwick Hose Company, 110 Ward Road, North Tonawanda.
