For the state of New York and Niagara County, the multi-year trend of rising sales tax collections continued in 2025. Niagara County was among those seeing in excess of 5% growth in sales tax revenues. Sales tax collections in 2025 totaled $102,944,000, a more than 5.3% or almost $5.5 million increase over 2024.

Buffalo Public Schools on Friday released an internal investigative report after a Buffalo police detective accused the schools of covering up reported sexual assault last spring.

A 19-year-old man faced a brief but emotional court appearance Thursday evening in the Town of Tonawanda. Miguel Castro Jr. appeared in a Town of Tonawanda courtroom just hours after being indicted by an Erie County grand jury in the stabbing death of his grandmother.

The property owner for the Walden Galleria, Western New York’s largest mall, has secured a five-year deal that averts foreclosure of the property. It was announced on Friday that Syracuse-based Pyramid Management Group secured the deal.

The operators of Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours in Lewiston filed a claim in state Supreme Court earlier this month, stating that it owns the waterfront property it currently leases from the Village of Lewiston.
