North Tonawanda police are investigating the circumstances around a car driven into the Niagara River on Friday night. Shortly after 9 p.m., NT police and firefighters responded to Gratwick Park for a report of a vehicle in the water. Upon arrival, police found a 2008 Subaru Impreza in the river, about 15 feet from shore. The male driver was able to get out of the vehicle and get to shore on his own.

A 70-year-old woman is dead after being struck in a hit-and-run crash on Kensington Avenue Saturday evening, according to Amherst Police. Police said it happened in front 1970 Kensington Ave. around 6 p.m. Saturday when a 57-year-old woman driving a 2022 Jeep Compass hit the 70-year-old victim who was in the roadway.
