As Lockport Common Council continues to review and reduce Mayor John Lombardi III’s proposed 2026 budget, aldermen have put pressure on the mayor to turn over his city vehicle to reduce liability, gas costs and complaints.

Update on a story we told you about earlier; Aguacates Mexican Restaurant on Elmwood Avenue announced on Thursday that it was “closed for maintenance.”
ICE confirmed on Friday that it detained four people at the restaurant. ICE said that the four, described as “illegal aliens,” used “evasive maneuvers in an attempt to flee the officers and escape arrest.”

A Buffalo man, 47 year old Antonio Prieto, has pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge in connection to killing his wife with an axe in 2024. Authorities say he killed his wife, 29-year-old Elizabeth Salazar, by hitting her with an axe at their apartment on the 300 block of Rhode Island Street.

A 56-year-old woman from Buffalo is in the hospital after she was struck by a vehicle Thursday around 9 p.m on Main Street near Youngs Road.
