The Buffalo Fire Department responded to a house fire that turned fatal Saturday morning in the Elmwood Village They found the house to be on fire, the fire was contained to the first floor of the structure. Three people in the home were rescued. Two people, a 29-year-old woman and an infant were pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation into the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Niagara Falls Police have called off a Missing Vulnerable Adult Alert. According to the Niagara Falls Police Department, the alert was cancelled around 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 18
The City of Buffalo and Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon are pursuing legal action to seize the property of the Buffalo Grand Hotel. Scanlon says that the city is using article 19-B of the Real Property Actions and Proceedings Law to acquire the property, citing ongoing neglect following the fire that closed the site in 2021.
