One person is dead following a fire on Rano Street in Buffalo on Saturday. Officials said that firefighters responded to a fire at 112 Rano St. around 6:20 p.m. One civilian died as a result of the fire, and one firefighter was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.
Heavy rains last week have again raised concerns about water damage and flooding inside a mausoleum on the grounds of a Niagara Falls cemetery that has been the subject of complaints in recent months. Billionaire philanthropist Tom Golisano is expanding his footprint in Buffalo. Golisano, the former owner of the Buffalo Sabres, has purchased the former Buffalo News building from developer Douglas Jemal with plans to use the building for the Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship.
The renovations that are needed at the KeyBank Center are expected to cost at least $400 million, according to sources with direct knowledge of ongoing conversations happening. Sabres officials confirm that conversations among the organization, state, and Erie County have begun.
