A Niagara County family is reaching out to the community in hopes to locate a missing man, 46-year-old Scott Stopa. In the family’s social media post, they said Scott has been missing since Tuesday, May 27. He was last seen around 8:30 a.m. According to the family he drives a dark gray/black 2014 Jeep compass with the license plate LNN-1422.

The federal government filed court papers Wednesday to seize Pharaoh’s Gentlemen’s Club from its owner, who was convicted of eight charges, including drug-and-sex trafficking exotic dancers.

Amherst police are investigating an “incident” at Sweet Home High School involving a student and a teacher aide. The District confirms that the teacher aide is no longer employed by the District.

Niagara County Sheriff’s Office investigators are seeking help from the public to locate a missing Lockport attorney. Sheriff Michael Filicetti confirmed Thursday that family members reported Scott Stopa missing earlier this week. They told police that Stopa, 46, has not been seen or heard from since Tuesday.

Chippewa Street in downtown Buffalo will be closed to traffic during late night, weekend hours until Labor Day after three people were stabbed in a large fight over the weekend, Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon said Thursday.

Buffalo Public School board members passed its budget, which includes cuts to over a dozen jobs, for the 2025-26 school year with a 5-3 vote on Wednesday night.

NTSB investigates fatal crash near Montgomery Field, citing non-functional weather system and approach lights. NTSB investigator Dan Baker disclosed that the weather notification system at Montgomery Field was not operational when the pilot attempted to land around 3:45 a.m. on Thursday. Also, approach lights for the runway, which pilots should be able to activate remotely, have been non-functional since October, according to public records.
New York State Police will have more troopers stationed at synagogues and other Jewish institutions in response to the murders of two Israeli embassy workers outside of the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. State officials said there is no known threat to people in New York State, but patrol visibility and regular checks of vulnerable sites such as Jewish religious institutions and schools will be conducted.
Richard Park, 72, returned to Buffalo this weekend and is preparing to run his 126th marathon, aiming for first place in his age group. The Forestville native now living in Colorado Springs is back in Western New York to run his 126th marathon. By pure coincidence, his race bib number is No. 125, which is the number of marathons he has already completed. That includes one in every state.
