More than half of the Town of Tonawanda’s police force returned from shifts this week to find letters of fines from the town board for an “illegal ticketing strike.”

On Monday, the Community Benefits Oversight Committee held a meeting to provide the public an update on the future home for the Bills. One priority of the committee mentioned: a transportation hub for the stadium.

Erie County announced Monday that it dismissed a lawsuit filed against AmeriCorps last month after the agency terminated a Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), which funded the placement of hundreds of senior volunteers in different positions across the county.

According to the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, a correction officer at Groveland Correctional Facility died in state housing. The officer was 53-year-old David Hilburger from Angola. The sister of the victim said that Hilburger had been feeling sick, but fearing retaliation from Groveland Correctional Facility, he never sought medical attention.

The Medina Police Department said on social media A pedestrian died Saturday in the Village of Medina after being struck by a vehicle. “Tragically, the pedestrian involved in the accident was pronounced dead at the scene,” police said in a Saturday statement, adding that more information would be released “pending notification to family.”

A Hamburg man, Michael Osuch, pleaded guilty to manslaughter Thursday following his sister’s death after an alleged attack on her and their 91-year-old mother in May 2022.

The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s help in locating 15-year-old Adam Wisniewski. He was last seen near Lake Avenue and Old Niagara Road in the Town of Lockport, wearing red checkered pajamas, black sweatpants, and white crocs.

A former Tonawanda man was given more than six decades in prison for sexually abusing a child over a period of more than six years. Robert Roy, 42, was sentenced to 64 years to life in prison.

For the first time in roughly two years, Payton Gendron made an appearance inside of a federal courtroom in Buffalo, alongside his defense attorney’s for a status hearing in his death penalty case.

Amherst Police have located a vehicle that was stolen Thursday morning, but the suspects remain at large. Police said they were called to the scene of car theft shortly past 9 a.m. 3800 block of Main St., just east of Bailey Avenue.

Charles Dobucki, the landlord at 2 St. Louis Place in Buffalo, was arrested Thursday after failing to appear in housing court for allegedly neglecting his properties, including an Allentown building across the street from where two prominent artists were found dead last month.

Gov. Kathy Hochul signed Executive Order 47.4 on April 9, extending the state’s disaster emergency for correctional facilities. The order now remains in effect until May 9, 2025, and it revises policies from the earlier order.

Now that Buffalo Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon has released his budget proposal, Common Council will review the proposal in the coming weeks, with members putting an emphasis on transparency and public input.

33 year old Michael Robinson of Buffalo pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail theft after he conspired with two others to steal from the Cheektowaga post office last October.
