A car drove into the Niagara River from the Niagara Scenic Parkway on Monday morning. Police said that a truck reportedly drove off the Niagara Scenic Parkway and into the river near the Bird Overlook around 9:15 a.m. Approximately an hour and a half later, a vehicle was found submerged. No word on the fate of the driver.

A mistrial was declared Monday in the case of a man previously convicted of murdering a woman in Tonawanda over 30 years ago. Brian Scott Lorenzo was convicted in the murder of 33-year-old Deborah Meindl at her Franklin Street residence.

Six men are facing charges for sexually exploiting children. The New York State Police, along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Town of Lancaster Police Department, conducted an operation targeting individuals involved in the online exploitation of children.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued $475,000 in penalties to Great Lakes Cheese following a massive fish kill in late August, it announced Monday.

A Depew man, 42 year old James Hoffman, who used to work for the Sheridan Park Volunteer Fire Company was sentenced Monday morning for stealing more than $446,000 over six years while working as treasurer for the company, in Tonawanda, between January 2019 and January 2025.

Two McDonald’s employees were hospitalized and another was evaluated after an explosion reportedly occurred at a Fredonia location Sunday night.

Niagara Falls City School District Superintendent Mark Laurrie is retiring at the end of the school year. According to Laurrie, he notified the school district on July 1 based on his contract timing.

An apartment fire on Delaware Avenue in Buffalo that sent four people to the hospital last month has been ruled accidental, according to a city spokesperson.

Buffalo Police are investigating a shooting that took place on East Amherst Street early Saturday morning, officials announced. Officials said a 20-year-old male Buffalo State University student was shot in the arm and taken by ambulance to the Erie County Medical Center.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced that she will be extending an executive order on COVID-19 vaccine access.
In a statement released by the Governor’s office on Sunday, the governor announced the extension of Executive Order 52, which allows pharmacists to continue administering COVID-19 vaccines. The extension will remain in place for the next 30 days.

Just before 7am, a motor vehicle accident reported involving a pedestrian on Niagara Falls Boulevard in the Town of Wheatfield. A 2021 Jeep SUV was traveling northbound on Niagara Falls Boulevard, when it struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian suffered trauma from the collision and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

A Buffalo man, 28 year old Lamarrio Clark, was sentenced on Wednesday to a determinate sentence of 25 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision for killing a man on the Fourth of July in 2023.

A former Mount Mercy Academy teacher and school bus driver was sentenced to three years of probation on Monday for driving a group of high school students back from an after-school club while drunk in February 2024.

Catholic Health announced on Thursday that a tentative four-year contract agreement has been reached with Communication Workers of America (CWA) Locals 1133 and 1168. The agreement is on six contracts, which covers over 2,800 nurses, service, technical and clerical workers across Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, Kenmore Mercy Hospital and Sisters of Charity Hospital St. Joseph Campus.

A state supreme court case filed by longtime King Center Charter School (KCCS) Principal Antoinette Radford against the school to get her job back was dismissed Wednesday.

The Diocese of Buffalo has filed a Chapter 11 reorganization plan after it agreed to pay $150 million to settle a lawsuit alleging over 800 claims of sexual assault.

The City of Buffalo has filed documents in the wrongful death lawsuit of Firefighter Jason Arno, asking for the case to be dismissed ahead of a court date next week. Arno died responding to a fire on Main Street in Buffalo in March of 2023.

A body was pulled from the water Wednesday in the City of Buffalo. Buffalo emergency crews were notified shortly before 7:30 p.m. Wednesday that a male of an unknown age had entered the water near Mile Marker 8.2 at the Foot of Ferry.

The Hyde Park Ice Pavilion has officially switched to a new operator as of Wednesday. According to Robert Restaino, the mayor of Niagara Falls, the new interim operator is Jerry Puleo. Puleo currently owns a youth baseball league called 16 Athletics.

A West Seneca man, 44 year old Samuel Baer, pleaded guilty Monday afternoon to leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death after he hit a pedestrian last September in North Buffalo.

Amherst Town Supervisor Brian Kulpa broke down a proposed $178 million budget during a meeting Tuesday night, including what he calls a tax break for residents.

A motorcyclist traveling on Union Road was pronounced dead on the scene after a crash Tuesday morning. Jesse Rajla, 30, of Buffalo, was riding a motorcycle in the area of Union Road and East and West Road in West Seneca when he and a vehicle collided.

Comedian Bert Kreischer added Buffalo to his “Permission to Party World Tour” and will come to Shea’s Performing Arts Center in March.

A New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Siting Board has rejected a request from CWM Chemical Services LLC (CWM) for permits to expand its Model City hazardous waste facility in the towns of Lewiston and Porter.

The $134 million McCarley Gardens expansion project, which will bring affordable housing and retail space to the Fruit Belt community, was unanimously approved by the City of Buffalo Planning Board.

Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz said Tuesday that he has Bell’s Palsy. Poloncarz said his case is mild. He said he began experiencing symptoms on Saturday and went to Buffalo General Hospital.
