A motorcyclist died in a crash that took place early Monday night in Lewiston. The sheriff’s office received multiple reports just before 6:30 p.m. of a collision in front of 4663 Townline Road near Albright Road.

The hot water is back on at Buffalo State University. The announcement comes more than two weeks after students had been without hot water due to a leak affecting multiple dorms.

A recent motorcycle crash in Wyoming County sent two people to Erie County Medical Center.The crash happened on Sept. 16 on State Route 20A in the Town of Sheldon, according to the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. First responders found that both occupants had been thrown from the motorcycle.

After a quiet stretch, the tropical Atlantic has woken up with Tropical Storm Gabrielle and a tropical wave southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Gabrielle is expected to become a hurricane sometime today. Currently, there are no watches or warnings in effect.

A Buffalo Police officer and a civilian driver were injured in a crash Saturday night in Buffalo’s Black Rock neighborhood. The crash happened at the intersection of Tonawanda Street and Hertel Avenue some time past 9 p.m. Saturday.

Buffalo Fire and Police crews were on the scene of a 3rd-alarm fire that broke out Saturday afternoon in North Buffalo. The fire was at a three-story apartment complex at 2439 Delaware Ave., just north of Hertel Avenue. AMR and emergency medical crews were also on scene.Multiple residents were rescued from the building, and 15 people have been treated at the scene.

A Western New York woman was arrested in connection to what police called forged rabies vaccination certificates. The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested 43-year-old Jessica A. Musall of Perry following an investigation. It all began after the Town of Perry raised concerns about the validity of a rabies vaccination certificate.

The Buffalo Sewer Authority has reached a settlement with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation over past violations, agreeing to pay a $20,000 penalty and invest at least $100,000 in improvements at Roosevelt Park

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Friday that New York State Police, in partnership with the New York State Thruway Authority, seized 140 vehicles and issued 711 tickets over unpaid tolls and fees. There were three enforcement operations on the thruway system this summer: one in Buffalo and two at Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge. State Police say they issued nearly 10K tickets Labor Day weekend

Political divide in Niagara Falls is leading to the closure of the Hyde Park Ice Pavilion on Sep. 30. Mike Carella, who has operated the rink for nearly 15 years, says he put in a bid to continue operations at the pavilion and was denied. Mayor Robert Restaino’s administration had a deal in place to have an Entertainment Group take over the facility. However, the city council voted to reject that proposal earlier in the week.

The Chautauqua County Health Department and the Village of Fredonia announced Friday that another boil water order has been issued. According to the Health Department, on Sep. 19, the Village of Fredonia received results from two failing bacteria samples in its distribution system, one of which contained E. coli.

Richard Fox pleaded guilty on Friday to the murders of Marquita Mull and Cassandra Watson, whose bodies were discovered together in September 2021 on a trail in Chautauqua County.

An Olean man was arrested Wednesday on charges of possessing and promoting child pornography, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office announced. Michael Sharbaugh, 53, was arrested in Sanford, Fla., on a warrant out of Cattaraugus County.

If things don’t change soon, and with revenues dropping, Riverdale Cemetery will become the Town of Lewiston’s responsibility. Niagara Falls City Judge James Faso, the president of the Riverdale Cemetery Association, appealed to the town for help at its work session earlier this month.
