Two people died and two others remain in the hospital after a fire broke out Tuesday night in Lackawanna. The call came in just before 10:30 p.m. for a fire at 27 Girard Ave., where crews saw heavy fire in the back of the structure with people trapped.

Amherst police secured a second-degree murder arrest warrant for a Buffalo man, 37 year old Daniel Negron, after a woman was found dead at a motel on Tuesday.

A Buffalo man was arrested on Sunday after allegedly directing a laser pointer at the Erie County Sheriff’s Office Air 1 helicopter. 40 year old Derwin Heath is accused of directing a blue laser at the Air 1 helicopter while it was above Bailey Avenue and Wecker Street.

New York State Police have recovered the body of one of the victims from a boat crash near the North Grand Island Bridge Wednesday night. The body of 46-year-old Natalie Sansivero of Grand Island was found approximately one mile from where the boat crash occurred. Police are still attempting to recover the body of Jerome Williams, 66, who also died in the crash.

Two tenants of an apartment house on East High Street were assisted by American Red Cross after a fire Friday night. According to the Lockport Fire Department, the fire in the attic at 822 East High St. was extinguished quickly once found and fire damage was kept to the attic space above one second-floor apartment.
