For the second year in a row, acting Mayor Chris Scanlon is proposing a capital budget that surpasses the recommended cap by the city comptroller. Scanlon is proposing a $94M capital budget, $38.4M of which is for city spending, and the remaining $53.9M is for Buffalo Public Schools.

A Niagara Falls man will spend more than two decades in prison for the stabbing death of another city man in 2022. A judge handed down a term of 22 years to life to Al Villane for his conviction on charges of second-degree murder and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the stabbing death of Hollis Stewart.

A Buffalo man, 44 year old Wendell Brooks, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter, leaving the scene of an incident without reporting resulting in death, and tampering with physical evidence following the death of a Buffalo woman in July, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Monday.

22 year old Iyanna Scott of Buffalo pleaded guilty to manslaughter last week after she hit and killed a man following an argument in Cheektowaga last May.

Two teens died early Saturday morning after an SUV carrying six teens left the roadway and struck a utility pole in the Allegany County. The crash happened at 2:24 a.m. Saturday. According to New York State Police, a 2020 Buick Encore carrying six teens failed to navigate a sharp curve on Tarantine Boulevard in the Town of Wellsville, left the roadway, then hit the pole on the driver’s side.

A fire broke out Friday afternoon in Niagara County, where all residents evacuated safely before law enforcement and fire personnel arrived on the scene.No injuries were reported following the house fire on the 2600 block of Transit Road in Newfane. The fire was called into Niagara County Sheriff’s Communication Center around 1 p.m. Friday.
