A Cheektowaga man has pleaded guilty in connection to the death of a toddler last year. 31 year old Jahmil Paisley admitted to a manslaughter charge in the death of 21-month-old Logan Paisley at an apartment on Slate Creek Drive in Cheektowaga on Oct. 18, 2024. The child was pronounced dead at Mercy Hospital. It is unclear how the child died.

A drug trafficker will spend the rest of his life in prison for the 2019 murder of a federal informant. Alphonso Payne, 32, was sentenced to life in prison plus 15 years in U.S. District Court, for murdering federal informant, Joshua Jalovick, in the backyard of a home on Freund Avenue in Buffalo’s Schiller Park neighborhood on July 1, 2019.

With a Lockport Common Council vote scheduled on a revised budget that reduces the city’s tax increase to 3.8%, it is unclear if enough aldermen will vote in favor of the spending plan. After weeks of meetings with Dan Cavallari, city finance director, aldermen met their initial goal of returning the budget to the tax cap by trimming more than $800,000.

29 year old Jakia Turner has been arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after an investigation on Sunday, according to Town of Tonawanda police. She was stopped on a curb with four children aged one to 11 years old around 10:45 p.m. Sunday night. It is alleged that none of the children were wearing seatbelts.

A North Tonawanda teen who was urgently searching for a liver donor has received a successful transplant. A little over two weeks ago, 17-year-old Meredith Roberts was diagnosed with sudden, severe liver failure. A match was found and she has since undergone successful surgery.

A Niagara Falls man was sentenced to 22 years to life in prison for a murder in the city in 2022, the Niagara County District Attorney’s Office said Tuesday.
Al Villane, 35, stabbed 47-year-old Hollis Stewart to death at a residence on the 700 block of 20th Street on Sept. 19, 2022. Stewart died at ECMC.

A 4-year-old girl died after she was struck by a Panama Central School District bus on Monday morning, say Jamestown Policce. Officers responded to Milton J. Fletcher Elementary School around 8:10 a.m. to reports of a motor vehicle accident. They rendered first aid and the child was taken to UPMC Chautauqua, but she succumbed to her injuries.

A man from Ghana, 21 year old Cross Abu Cole, admitted to an extortion charge after he used nude photographs of a victim to blackmail him in 2022, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, threatening to blackmail the victim as he threatened to send the photos to family and friends if the victim did not pay $200.

A lawsuit has been filed by the family of the couple who died in a crash on the Rainbow Bridge in 2023, citing that the car they were operating may have had defective parts.

ICE confirmed on Friday that it detained four people at the restaurant. ICE said that the four, described as “illegal aliens,” used “evasive maneuvers in an attempt to flee the officers and escape arrest.”

A Buffalo man, 47 year old Antonio Prieto, has pleaded guilty to a manslaughter charge in connection to killing his wife with an axe in 2024. Authorities say he killed his wife, 29-year-old Elizabeth Salazar, by hitting her with an axe at their apartment on the 300 block of Rhode Island Street.

For two months, a young Venezuelan woman who had been hired to clean the Buffalo Bills’ Highmark Stadium has been detained by ICE. The woman, Yusgleidy Villa Alvarez, 18, has no criminal history was in the Niagara County Jail for a month but has been moved to another facility.

Aguacates Mexican Restaurant on Elmwood Avenue announced on Thursday that it was “closed for maintenance.” This came after witnesses alleged that an operation unfolded Thursday morning in which federal agents detained people at the restaurant.

A Buffalo woman, 55 year old LaChria Bowden, has pleaded guilty to charges in connection to stealing more than $270,000 from a church on Buffalo’s East Side, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.

The Niagara County Department of Health on Thursday confirmed a case of rabies in a raccoon found in the Town of Lockport. The raccoon, which was submitted for testing on Nov. 7, had an encounter with a dog on Old Dysinger Road a day before. No human exposure was reported.
