A man has been charged after a woman and a newborn baby died during a house fire in Buffalo this past weekend. A fire broke out on the first floor of a home at 428 Norwood Avenue in the Elmwood Village on Saturday morning. Kathleen Carrig, 29, and a 4-day-old infant were pronounced dead at the scene. 30 year old Kidane Haile, who was taken to ECMC with serious injuries, is under arrest.

School leaders at the Starpoint Central School District said there was a mistaken lockdown on Thursday morning due to a technical system error.
At approximately 10:45 a.m., the entire district went into a lockdown. Parents were notified, which caused some concern, but local officials say the entire incident was a false alarm.
