As downtown economic development concerns rise among residents and elected officials, the non-profit Greater Lockport Development Corp. (GLDC) and Lockport Main Street (LMS) organization are discussing ways to restructure their relationship.

The Town of Tonawanda announced details for its new ambulance service on Monday night. Under the new plan – which will begin in January 2026 – Twin City Ambulance will provide ambulance services for the town for 16 hours per day, and the town’s new ambulance corps will cover eight hours per day.

Any action on Buffalo public school closures has been paused for the time being. The school closure committee recommended the closure of D’Youville Porter Campus School PS 3 and Early Childhood Center PS 90 as a part of Superintendent Pascal Mubenga’s four-year-plan to reduce the district’s deficit.

Six Northwood Elementary School students were evaluated by EMS for exposure to insulation after pieces of it fell from the ceiling at the Aurora Theatre on Monday.

Code Blue is in effect in Lockport through 8 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 17) in the city of Lockport due to forecasted overnight below-freezing temperatures.
