The residents of a home at 1629 Lake Road were able to safely evacuate a fire early Sunday night. The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responding to the 911 call of the fire arrived to find the home fully engulfed by fire and the residents outside the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Niagara County Fire Investigation Unit.
A Buffalo man has been charged with murder after he allegedly stabbed and killed a woman in Buffalo’s Columbus neighborhood. 36-year-old Dominic Melendez has been charged with second degree murder after police said he stabbed the victim Saturday afternoon at the Pine Harbor Apartments on Seventh Street.
Buffalo mayor Sean Ryan signed an executive order Monday barring city employees from assisting federal agents with civil immigration enforcement. Ryan said earlier this month that he planned to sign the order.
