The manslaughter case against a Lockport man will be handled by a special prosecutor from Erie County. Assistant Erie County District Attorney Patrick B. Shanahan will take over the prosecution of Nicholas J. DiCarlo after Niagara County District Attorney Brian Seaman recused his office because of a conflict.
Human remains found near Erie, Pa. were identified as that of an Olean woman who went missing in 2024. The investigation determined that the remains were that of Rebecca L. (Foley) Hakes, of Olean, who was reported missing by her family late last year.
A woman who died in a crash on Union Road off of Route 33 Thursday night has been identified by Cheektowaga Police. Heather Cottone, 54, of Cheektowaga and two juveniles collided around 11:30 p.m. Cottone was ejected from her vehicle and died at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle and his passenger, both 15 years old, remained on scene.
