A five-judge panel of the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division Fourth Department will weigh Joseph Belstadt’s claims that his constitutional rights were violated and that prosecutors lacked sufficient evidence to convict him on a single count of second-degree murder for the 1993 homicide of Mandy Steingasser.

The Seneca Nation and New York State continue to feud over a new gaming compact, after the most recent short-term contract extension less than two years ago. Under the current compact, the Seneca Nation pays a 25% of revenues on slot machines and other gaming devices to the state.

Jim’s Steakout restaurant announced that its founder, James ‘Jim’ Incorvaia, passed away on Oct. 5. He was 78 years old. Incorvaia opened the first Jim’s Steakout on Elmwood Avenue in 1981. It quickly grew into a popular eatery, especially for the late-night crowds.

Normally, the National Buffalo Wing Festival takes place each year during the Labor Day weekend. But, new for 2026, the festival will take place the weekend before Labor Day, August 29-30, 2026.
