A car drove into the Niagara River from the Niagara Scenic Parkway on Monday morning, say State Police. A truck reportedly drove off the Niagara Scenic Parkway and into the Niagara River near the Bird Overlook around 9:15 a.m. Approximately an hour and a half later, a vehicle was found submerged. No word on the driver.
A Depew man, 42 year old James Hoffman, who used to work for the Sheridan Park Volunteer Fire Company was sentenced Monday morning for stealing more than $446,000 over six years while working as treasurer for the company, in Tonawanda, between January 2019 and January 2025.
