The Red Cross is assisting six people – three adults and three children – after a fire tore through a Bailey Street home on Saturday morning. Buffalo Fire arrived around 6:15 a.m. Saturday at 2586 Bailey Ave., where a fire started outside the 2.5-story wood frame residence. It then spread inside and up to the attic. The cause remains under investigation. The Red Cross was called in to help the residents displaced by the fire.
A compromised roof caused firefighters needing to evacuate an Amherst home on Friday night. The fire call was from residents at 41 Burgundy Terrace, reporting a possible grease fire in the kitchen. The Getzville Fire Company confirmed visible smoke and flames upon arrival, with fire going through the roof. An alert was made to all working firefighters because the roof compromised.
