While excavation of Manhattan Project era radioactive waste began in August 2024, shipments of that waste have stalled because of an injunction in Michigan. The 191-acre Niagara Falls Storage Site in Lewiston is home to more than 250,000 cubic yards of radioactive waste from the development of the Atomic Bomb in the 1940s. Even though excavation of more than 4,500cu/yd of material began in August 2024, the shipments of that material to a disposal facility in Michigan remain stalled due to an injunction.
New York has proposed regulation changes that inten to modernize hunting practices and improve deer management across the state. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation on Friday said the new rules would streamline the use and reporting of hunting tags while creating additional opportunities for youth hunters and landowners.
